Search Indiana birth records 

From this page you could access every Indiana online birth database, such as birth records, Indiana birth certificates, birth notices, Indiana birth indexes, and other records. 

The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), the Office of Vital Records maintains records for vital events that occured in the state. The office has records on file for births dated back to October 1907. For records before 1907, you should visit the birthplace county’s local health department. 

The following persons could order a certified copy of a birth certificate: 

  • The person named on the certificate (must be at least 18 years)
  • Spouse of the person named on the certificate
  • Mother or father of the registrant
  • Adult child or grandchild of the registrant
  • Brothers and sisters of the registrant
  • Grandparents of the registrant
  • Maternal or paternal uncles and aunts of the registrant 

Required information: 

  • Full name of the child at birth
  • Place of birth (city/county/hospital)
  • Date of birth (month/day/year)
  • Full name of father and mother (including the maiden name of mother)
  • Your relationship to the registrant
  • The reason for requesting the certificate
  • Your mailing address and daytime phone number
  • Your signature

You can also go to the office in person from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., everyday excluding weekends and official state holidays.
