Search Kentucky birth records

From this page you could access every online birth database for the state of Kentucky, such as Kentucky birth records, birth certificates, Kentucky birth indexes, birth notices, and other vital records of Kentucky.

You could access certificates of births occurring after 1911 through the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics. This office doesn’t offer birth records dated before 1911.

The law doesn’t allow the Vital Statistics office to do a genealogical search, verify whether a certificate is on file, or provide free information from records unless you submit a completed application form and enclose the required fee.

The fee includes the cost of the record search and if a certificate could not be found, you don’t get any refund. The office doesn’t issue photocopies of certificates or non-certified copies.

Required information to order a birth certificate:

  • Full name of the person at birth
  • The date of birth (month, day, year)
  • The county of birth
  • The father’s name
  • The mother’s maiden name
  • Address and name that the certificate should be sent
  • A daytime phone number (you should be able to answer from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Submit the completed application and required fee (by money order or check) to the Vital Statistics office located at:

275 E. Main St. 1E-A
Frankfort, KY 40621

You can also pay the fee ($10 for each certified copy) by internet, phone or by going to the office. It could take up to 30 working days for certificates ordered by mail to be processed.
