Search records of birth

Search Maine birth records

From this page you could access every online birth database for the Maine state, such as birth records, Maine birth certificates, Maine birth indexes, birth notices, and other records.

Records of birth, marriage, or death from 1923 to the present are accessible through the Vital Records Office. To view microfilm copies of records of vital events of 1922-1955 you can visit the State Archives research room.

Needed information to request a certified copy of a birth certificate:

  • Name on the birth record
  • Date and place (city/town) of birth
  • The names of the parents, including the mother’s maiden name
  • Your relationship to the person
  • A daytime telephone number

You should mail your request including the above information, required fee ($60 per certified copy) and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the office with the address below:

11 State House Station
244 Water Street
Augusta, ME 04333-0011

Please note that the payment is non-refundable, meaning that even if the record is not found your fee will be retained. So when ordering a certificate you should include as much information as possible. For example, it is really helpful to provide the father’s name.
