From this page you could access every North Carolina online birth database, such as birth records, North Carolina birth certificates, birth indexes, birth notices, and other related records.
The Department of Health and Human Services of North Carolina, the Vital Records Unit reserves and registers all records for vital events such as births, deaths, marriages and deaths that happen in the state.
You can order a certified copy of a birth certificate if you are:
- The registrant (named on the certificate)
- The sister, brother or child of the person named on the record
- The current husband or wife of the person
- The parent, step-parent, or grandparent of the person
- An authorized agent or legal representative
Needed information:
- Full Name of the birth named on the record
- Date of birth
- Father’s full name
- Mother’s full maiden name
- Place (city or county) of birth
- The applicant’s relationship to the person
Mail your requests including completed application form, a photocopy of your legal photo ID and correct fee ($24 per certified copy) to the Office located at:

Your mailed request will be processed within 2-4 weeks after receipt.
You can also visit the office in person to order a certificate copy by going to the 225 N. McDowell Street, Raleigh, North Carolina in the opening hours. (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., everyday except weekends and state government holidays)
