From this page you could access every online birth database for the state of West Virginia, such as birth records, West Virginia birth certificates, birth indexes, West Virginia birth notices, and other vital records. 

The West Virginia Health Statistics Center, The Vital Registration Office is responsible for collecting records of vital events such as birth, death, marriage, and divorce. 

The individuals who can order a certified copy of a birth certificate are: 

  • The Person on the record
  • The husband or wife of the person
  • The parents and grandparents of person
  • The sisters or brothers of the person
  • The children and grandchildren of the person
  • Any individual who can prove a legal interest in the certificate 

Needed information: 

  • Name of the person as it appears on the certificate
  • Date of birth
  • The city and county of birth
  • Father’s full name and the mother’s full maiden name 

Send your request including completed application, required fee ($12 per certificate copy) and a photocopy of a valid ID to the office addressed below:

Processing time for mailed orders is usually about five business days (depending upon order volume and staffing, however, it can change.)
